Electrician in Conyers GA for Home Electrical Work

Licensed, locally owned electrical service for Conyers homeowners, from older ranch homes to newer Salem Road construction.

Electrical Service in Conyers from a Team That Knows the Area

All Purpose Heating & Air Conditioning provides residential electrical service in Conyers, Georgia, covering everything from panel upgrades and rewiring to outlets, lighting, EV chargers, and troubleshooting repairs throughout Rockdale County.

When a Conyers homeowner calls us about an electrical problem, we already have a good idea what we’re likely to find. The housing stock here ranges from older homes near Olde Town with original wiring and undersized panels, to 1970s and 80s ranch and split-level subdivisions with equipment that’s now decades past its prime, to newer builds along the Salem Road corridor where builder-grade panels sometimes can’t keep up with how people actually live. Knowing the difference matters before we ever pull a cover off.

We’re based in Atlanta and Conyers is a regular run for our crews, about 30 minutes east on I-20. We’ve been doing this work for more than 35 years as a locally owned company, and we carry the licensing and insurance Rockdale County requires. That’s not a formality. It means the work gets permitted and inspected correctly, and you’re protected if something comes up later.

If your home has electrical issues you’ve been putting off, or you’re planning an upgrade and want a straight answer on what it involves, give us a call or request your estimate below.

I had an emergency electrical outage problem in the kitchen/dining room area. The power outage affected the lights and several appliances. Ronnie performed a few troubleshooting tests of the breaker unit and outlets. He was ultimately able to pinpoint the source of the problem and discovered that the kitchen lamp fixture had a loose fluorescent bulb. After Ronnie tightened it, everything began to operate normally again. He was very thorough, professional, fair and courteous. I will contract his services for all my electrical needs in the future.

I received services twice this year from All Purpose; for the replacement of my AC unit and the replacement of my furnace and each time I received superb services. Mr. Rudy and Deron were in sync working together and making sure my home was cooling and heating accordingly. They also helped me set up my smart Thermostat and taught me how to use it, answering all my questions and concerns. Very reasonable priced and provide visual details of what's going on. I definitely highly recommend All Purpose Heating & Air Condition!

What Conyers Homes Actually Require from an Electrician

Conyers has a wider mix of electrical situations than most people expect, and the right approach depends on which one you’re dealing with.

Homes near Olde Town and the older Milstead area were built in an era when 60-amp or 100-amp service was standard. Many of them still have it. That was adequate for the appliances of the time. It is not adequate for a home running central air conditioning, an electric range, a dishwasher, and a couple of home offices simultaneously. Some of those homes also have aluminum branch circuit wiring, which requires specific connectors and handling to be safe. It’s not automatically a crisis, but it does need to be evaluated by someone who knows what to look for.

Out toward the county line, larger lots often mean detached garages, workshops, or outbuildings that need their own subpanels and dedicated circuits. Pools and outdoor kitchens on those properties require GFCI protection and weatherproof installations that have to meet current code, regardless of when the original work was done.

Newer subdivisions along Salem Road and in areas like Honey Creek present a different issue. Builder-grade 150-amp or 200-amp panels were sized for a baseline load. Add an EV charger, a hot tub, or a home addition, and that panel may not have the capacity or the open breaker slots to handle it cleanly.

Rockdale County has its own permit and inspection process, and work done without a permit can create real problems when you sell. We pull permits on the work that requires them. That’s part of how we do the job.

Electrical Services We Provide to Conyers Homeowners

We handle the full range of residential electrical work in Conyers. Here’s what that looks like in practice.

  • Electrical Panel Upgrades. If your panel is undersized, full, or simply old, we assess what your home actually needs and replace it with a panel sized for your current load. Learn more about our electrical panel upgrade service in Conyers.
  • Rewiring and New Circuits. Whether you need a dedicated circuit for a new appliance, updated wiring in an older home, or a subpanel run to a detached garage or workshop, we do the work to code and pull the permit when required. See details on our rewiring and circuit installation services in Conyers.
  • Outlets, Switches, and Lighting. Dead outlets, switches that don’t work, lighting that flickers or needs to be replaced, GFCI and AFCI protection where code requires it. These are the everyday jobs that matter. Read about our outlet, switch, and lighting services in Conyers.
  • EV Charger Installation. A Level 2 home charger requires a 240-volt dedicated circuit. We assess your panel capacity, run the circuit, and install the charger correctly so it’s ready for daily use.
  • Electrical Troubleshooting and Repair. Tripping breakers, burning smells, lights that dim when an appliance kicks on, outlets that stopped working. We find the source of the problem and fix it, not just the symptom.

If you’re not sure which service applies to what you’re seeing, give us a call and describe it. We’ll point you in the right direction.

How the Process Works from First Call to Finished Job

We try to make this straightforward, because it should be.

When you contact All Purpose Heating & Air Conditioning, you’ll talk to someone who can ask the right questions about what you’re dealing with. Is this a repair, an upgrade, or something you haven’t been able to diagnose yet? That conversation helps us come prepared with the right tools and a realistic picture of what the job involves.

We schedule a visit to your Conyers home and take a look at the actual situation, whether that’s the panel, the wiring, a specific circuit, or an outlet that’s stopped working. From there, we give you an estimate. That number reflects what the job actually requires, including any permit fees if permits are needed. There are no surprises added after the fact.

Once you approve the estimate, we get on the schedule and do the work. If permits are required, we handle pulling them and scheduling the inspection with Rockdale County. You don’t have to manage that process yourself.

When the job is done, we walk you through what was done and why. If we found anything else worth your attention while we were in there, we’ll tell you plainly and let you decide what to do with that information. No pressure.

Ready to get started? Request your estimate and we’ll get a visit on the calendar.

FAQ

Common Questions Process

Several things drive the cost: the age and condition of your existing wiring and panel, how many circuits are involved, whether the work requires a permit and inspection, and the complexity of the location (for example, running a circuit to a detached garage costs more than adding an outlet on an interior wall). Material costs also vary depending on the scope. The only way to get an accurate number for your specific situation is to request an estimate after someone looks at the actual job.

Most residential panel replacements are completed in a single day. The work involves shutting off power to the home for a period of time while the old panel is removed and the new one is installed and connected. If the job also requires a Rockdale County inspection, that inspection is scheduled separately after the installation is complete. More complex situations, like a service upgrade that involves work at the meter or on the utility side, can add time depending on the utility company's schedule.

A breaker that trips repeatedly is telling you something, but not always the same thing. It could be a faulty breaker, an overloaded circuit, a short somewhere in the wiring, or a device pulling more current than the circuit is rated for. Replacing the breaker without diagnosing the cause often just masks the real issue. A licensed electrician should troubleshoot the circuit first to find out whether the fix is a simple breaker swap, a dedicated circuit for a high-draw appliance, or something that needs more attention in the wiring itself.

Rockdale County requires permits for most significant electrical work, including panel replacements, new circuit installations, and service upgrades. Smaller repairs like replacing a receptacle or a switch typically don't require a permit, but the line isn't always obvious. Work done without a required permit can create complications when you sell the home or make a homeowner's insurance claim. When we assess your job, we'll tell you upfront whether a permit is required and handle pulling it if it is.

It depends on what "close to capacity" actually means for your specific panel, and that requires a load calculation rather than a guess. A Level 2 EV charger typically needs a dedicated 240-volt, 50-amp circuit. If your panel doesn't have the available capacity or open slots, a panel upgrade may need to happen first. We assess both the charger installation and your panel in the same visit so you get a clear picture of exactly what the project involves before any work begins.
