AC Installation and Replacement in Metro Atlanta, Georgia

All Purpose Heating & Air Conditioning has been installing and replacing AC systems for Metro Atlanta homeowners for more than 35 years.

AC Installation That's Done Right the First Time

AC installation is the process of sizing, selecting, and fitting a new central air conditioning system to a home. In Metro Atlanta, Georgia, that means accounting for our long, humid summers, older housing stock, and the wide range of home sizes across the area. A properly installed system keeps your home comfortable, runs efficiently, and avoids the cycle of repairs that comes with an aging or undersized unit.

At All Purpose Heating & Air Conditioning, we handle everything from the load calculation that determines the right system size to the final startup check before we leave your driveway. We are locally owned, licensed and insured, and we have been doing this work in this area for more than 35 years. That is not a tagline. It means our technicians have seen the ductwork in homes built in the 1970s, the electrical panels that need upgrading before a new system goes in, and every other complication that shows up between an estimate and a finished job.

We also offer financing on complete HVAC systems, so a failing unit does not have to mean a financial emergency. Whether your current system is simply worn out or you are adding square footage that the old equipment cannot handle, we can help you figure out what makes sense and get it done.

I had an emergency electrical outage problem in the kitchen/dining room area. The power outage affected the lights and several appliances. Ronnie performed a few troubleshooting tests of the breaker unit and outlets. He was ultimately able to pinpoint the source of the problem and discovered that the kitchen lamp fixture had a loose fluorescent bulb. After Ronnie tightened it, everything began to operate normally again. He was very thorough, professional, fair and courteous. I will contract his services for all my electrical needs in the future.

I received services twice this year from All Purpose; for the replacement of my AC unit and the replacement of my furnace and each time I received superb services. Mr. Rudy and Deron were in sync working together and making sure my home was cooling and heating accordingly. They also helped me set up my smart Thermostat and taught me how to use it, answering all my questions and concerns. Very reasonable priced and provide visual details of what's going on. I definitely highly recommend All Purpose Heating & Air Condition!

Signs Your AC System Needs to Be Replaced, Not Repaired

Most homeowners do not think about their AC until something goes wrong. But there are specific signs that point toward replacement rather than another repair, and catching them early saves money and a lot of miserable summer days.

  • The system is 12 to 15 years old or older. Air conditioners in this age range are past the typical service life that industry guidelines describe. Even if it is still running, efficiency has dropped and parts are harder to source. The next repair could be the one that makes replacement the obvious choice.
  • You have called for repairs two or more times in the past year. Capacitors, contactors, blower motors, and refrigerant leaks add up fast. At some point you are paying to keep a failing system alive rather than investing in one that works.
  • Your system uses R-22 refrigerant. R-22 has been phased out of production. If your unit still runs on it and develops a refrigerant leak, the cost to recharge it is significant and the supply is shrinking. Replacement is almost always the better path.
  • You added a room or finished a basement. The original system was sized for the original footprint. If the new space stays hot no matter how long the AC runs, the equipment is not undersized by accident. It was never designed to cool that square footage.
  • Your electric bills have climbed every summer. A system losing efficiency draws more power to do the same job. If your bills are noticeably higher than they were a few years ago and nothing else has changed, the AC is likely the reason.

Ignoring these signs does not make them go away. It usually means a breakdown on the hottest day of the year, when every HVAC company in Georgia is already booked.

How We Handle AC Installation from Start to Finish

A lot of companies will show up with a unit and swap it out. That is not how we work. The right installation starts before any equipment is ordered.

Load calculation first. We calculate the correct system size for your home using its square footage, ceiling height, insulation levels, window placement, and how the house sits on the lot. Skipping this step and guessing at size is one of the most common reasons a new system short-cycles, runs constantly, or cannot hold temperature on a hot afternoon.

Equipment selection. Once we know the size, we walk you through your options, including efficiency ratings. Higher SEER ratings mean lower operating costs over time. We explain the trade-offs so you can make a decision that fits your budget and your priorities.

Removal of the old unit. We pull the existing condenser and indoor coil and handle the old refrigerant properly. The pad gets inspected and leveled if needed before the new equipment goes in.

Installation of the condenser and coil. The outdoor condenser and the indoor evaporator coil are set, leveled, and secured. Refrigerant lines are connected and checked. Electrical connections are made to the disconnect, the breaker, and the thermostat.

Startup and testing. We charge the system, verify refrigerant pressure, check airflow at the registers, confirm the thermostat is communicating correctly, and run the system through a full cooling cycle before we consider the job done. You should not have to call us back the next day because something was missed at startup.

AC Installation and Replacement Across Our Metro Atlanta Service Area

We install and replace AC systems throughout our service area, including communities like Alpharetta, Conyers, Peachtree City, Newnan, and McDonough. Every job is handled by the same licensed and insured technicians, whether the home is close to Atlanta or at the far edge of the counties we cover.

What drives the cost and timeline of an installation varies from one home to the next. System size and efficiency rating are the starting point. A larger home or one with multiple zones requires more capacity, and a higher SEER rating affects the equipment cost. Neither of those is a reason to avoid the conversation. They are just factors we account for in your estimate.

Ductwork condition matters more than most homeowners expect. A new system pushed through leaking or undersized ducts will never perform the way it should. If we find problems during the installation, we will tell you what they are and what it takes to fix them. Electrical capacity is another variable. Older panels sometimes need an upgrade before a modern high-efficiency system can be connected safely.

Removal and disposal of the old equipment is part of the job. We handle it, and we do not leave the old condenser sitting in your yard.

If your current system is struggling but you are not sure whether repair or replacement makes more sense, our team can help you think through it. You can read more about what goes into AC repair and what those calls typically involve, or if your heating system is also giving you trouble, learn about furnace repair and what our technicians look for. FAQ

Common Questions Process

Several factors influence the total cost of an AC installation. The size of the system needed for your home, the efficiency rating you choose, the condition of your existing ductwork, and whether any electrical upgrades are required all play a role. The only way to get an accurate number for your specific home is to request an estimate so we can assess those factors directly.

Most standard AC replacements are completed in a single day. If the job involves ductwork repairs, electrical panel work, or other upgrades discovered during installation, the timeline may extend. We will give you a realistic picture of the schedule before work begins so you are not left guessing.

A system that is 12 to 15 years old, has needed multiple repairs in recent years, or runs on phased-out R-22 refrigerant is usually a better candidate for replacement than another repair. If the system is newer and the repair is straightforward, fixing it often makes sense. We can look at what you have and give you an honest assessment rather than a sales pitch.

Clear a path to your indoor air handler and make sure the area around the outdoor condenser pad is accessible. If you have pets, plan to keep them in a separate area during the work. Beyond that, our technicians handle the job from arrival to cleanup. We will let you know if anything specific to your home requires preparation when we schedule the appointment.

Yes. All Purpose Heating & Air Conditioning offers financing on complete HVAC systems. If an unexpected replacement is putting pressure on your budget, ask about financing options when you request your estimate and we can walk you through what is available.
