Drain Cleaning Service for Metro Atlanta Homeowners

When your drains stop cooperating, All Purpose Heating & Air Conditioning gets Georgia homeowners back to normal fast.

Drain Cleaning That Actually Clears the Problem

Drain cleaning service is the process of locating and removing blockages from your home’s drain and sewer lines so water flows the way it should. For Metro Atlanta homeowners, that means a licensed plumber identifies exactly where the clog is, clears it with the right equipment, and checks the line to make sure the problem is gone before leaving your home.

Most homeowners reach for a bottle of liquid drain cleaner when something slows down. That works sometimes, but it doesn’t reach a blockage deep in the line, and it does nothing for grease buildup, tree root intrusion, or a pipe that’s partially collapsed. A professional drain cleaning gets to the actual cause.

All Purpose Heating & Air Conditioning has been locally owned and operated for more than 35 years. We handle plumbing for residential and commercial properties across Georgia, and drain cleaning is one of the calls we get most often. We’re licensed and insured, and we treat your home the way we’d want ours treated.

If a drain in your house is giving you trouble, give us a call or request your estimate. We’ll tell you what’s going on and what it takes to fix it.

I had an emergency electrical outage problem in the kitchen/dining room area. The power outage affected the lights and several appliances. Ronnie performed a few troubleshooting tests of the breaker unit and outlets. He was ultimately able to pinpoint the source of the problem and discovered that the kitchen lamp fixture had a loose fluorescent bulb. After Ronnie tightened it, everything began to operate normally again. He was very thorough, professional, fair and courteous. I will contract his services for all my electrical needs in the future.

I received services twice this year from All Purpose; for the replacement of my AC unit and the replacement of my furnace and each time I received superb services. Mr. Rudy and Deron were in sync working together and making sure my home was cooling and heating accordingly. They also helped me set up my smart Thermostat and taught me how to use it, answering all my questions and concerns. Very reasonable priced and provide visual details of what's going on. I definitely highly recommend All Purpose Heating & Air Condition!

Signs Your Drains Are Telling You Something Is Wrong

Drains rarely fail all at once. They give you signals first, and knowing what to look for can save you from a much bigger mess later.

  • Slow draining in one fixture. A single slow sink usually points to a localized clog, often hair, soap buildup, or grease sitting in the trap or just beyond it. Annoying on its own, but easy to ignore until it stops draining entirely.
  • Backup in the lowest fixture in the house. If your basement floor drain or first-floor toilet is backing up, the blockage is likely further down the main line. Water has to go somewhere, and it finds the lowest exit. This one needs attention right away.
  • Gurgling sounds from drains or toilets. That sound is air trapped behind a partial blockage. You’ll often hear it in one fixture when you run water in another. It means the line is struggling to move water past something.
  • A sewer smell inside the house. A persistent sulfur or sewage odor that doesn’t go away after cleaning usually means something is sitting in the line and decomposing, or a dry trap is letting sewer gas back in.
  • A clog that keeps coming back. If you’ve cleared a drain twice in a few months, store-bought treatments are masking the problem, not solving it. Recurring clogs often mean grease coating the pipe walls, a root intrusion, or a belly in the line where debris collects.

Left alone, any of these can turn into a sewage backup, water damage to floors and walls, or a pipe failure. Catching it early is always the better call.

How We Clear Your Drains from Start to Finish

When one of our plumbers arrives, the first job is figuring out exactly where the blockage is and what’s causing it. That means asking a few questions, running water through the affected fixtures, and checking which drains are slow and which are fine. The location of the problem tells us a lot about what we’re dealing with before we touch a tool.

Once we’ve located the blockage, we choose the right method to clear it.

  • Cabling (drain snaking). A motorized cable breaks through or pulls out the obstruction. It’s effective for most household clogs, including hair, grease buildup, and small root intrusions close to the fixture.
  • Hydro jetting. For stubborn buildup, grease-coated lines, or heavier root intrusion, we use high-pressure water to scour the inside of the pipe. It clears the line more thoroughly than a cable alone and leaves the pipe walls cleaner.

When the situation calls for it, we run a sewer camera through the line after clearing it. The camera shows us the condition of the pipe, confirms the blockage is gone, and catches anything else that might cause a problem down the road, like a crack, a root that regrew, or a section of pipe that’s shifted.

After clearing the line, we run water through the system and check that flow is restored at every affected fixture. Then we tell you what we found. If the clog came from grease buildup, we’ll say so. If roots are getting into the line, we’ll show you and explain your options. You leave the conversation knowing what happened and what to watch for.

Drain Cleaning Across Our Metro Atlanta Service Area

All Purpose Heating & Air Conditioning serves homeowners throughout Metro Atlanta and the surrounding Georgia communities, including Alpharetta, Conyers, Peachtree City, Newnan, and McDonough. Whether you’re in a newer subdivision or a home built decades ago, drain problems show up the same way and need the same hands-on approach to fix.

What changes from job to job is what drives the time and cost involved. A few things affect both:

  • Location and severity of the clog. A blockage in a single bathroom drain clears faster than one deep in the main sewer line. A partial blockage is different from a full backup. The further down the line the problem sits, the more involved the work.
  • Cabling versus hydro jetting. Straightforward clogs often clear with a cable. Grease-coated pipes, heavy root intrusion, or a line that keeps blocking up may need hydro jetting to do the job properly. The right method depends on what’s actually in the pipe.
  • Camera inspection. If the line needs a camera run to confirm the blockage is clear or to diagnose a recurring problem, that adds to the scope of the visit. It also gives you information that prevents the next call.

If you’ve got a leak or suspect damage beyond the clog itself, our team also handles leak detection and pipe repair so you don’t have to call a second company. And if your water heater is part of the picture, you can learn more about our water heater services on its own page.

The best way to get a real number for your situation is to reach out to our team directly and request your estimate. We’ll look at what’s going on and give you a straight answer.

FAQ

Common Questions Process

The cost depends on several factors: where the blockage is in the line, how severe it is, whether hydro jetting is needed instead of a standard cable, and whether a camera inspection is part of the visit. There's no single flat answer that fits every situation. The right way to get an accurate number for your home is to request an estimate from us directly.

Most drain cleaning visits take between one and two hours, though that can vary. A localized clog in a single fixture clears faster than a blockage deep in the main sewer line. If the job calls for a camera inspection or hydro jetting, expect a bit more time. We'll give you a realistic picture of the timeline once we've seen what's going on.

Liquid drain cleaners work on some minor clogs, particularly hair and soap buildup close to the drain opening. They don't reach blockages deep in the line, and they do nothing for grease coating the pipe walls, tree root intrusion, or a pipe that has shifted or partially collapsed. If the same drain keeps clogging, or if more than one fixture is affected, a professional drain cleaning will find and fix the actual problem rather than masking it temporarily.

Sometimes it's one or the other, and sometimes it's both. A recurring clog, a drain that backs up after a professional cleaning, or gurgling across multiple fixtures can point to a damaged or shifted pipe rather than a simple blockage. A camera inspection is the clearest way to tell the difference. If there is damage in the line, our team handles leak detection and pipe repair so you get the full picture in one visit.

A few habits make a real difference. Keep grease and cooking oils out of kitchen drains entirely, use a hair catcher in shower and tub drains, and run hot water through the drain after heavy use. If your home has mature trees in the yard, root intrusion into sewer lines is worth watching for, since roots grow back over time. Your plumber can tell you what caused the original clog, which is the most useful starting point for preventing the next one.
